News:
2015

Jonita Davis reviewed Liturgical Calendar: Poems for Blotterature.  They also did an interview with me.

Lazy Day Writing published my story "The Bar on Baker Street" in their first issue.

I have a new essay called "I'm Not Dead Yet" at Foliate Oak about my life when I was 27.  It's slightly more experimental than what I normally do, but not much, given that I'm never very experimental.

I have a new essay up at InsideHigherEd.com about the bad semester I had and what I learned from it.

Nina Tassi gave Liturgical Calendar: Poems a really nice review at Bibliotekos.  I appreciate her taking the time to give the book a careful read and a thoughtful review.

I had my first short story (ever) published this week.  You can read
"Cross-Cultural Communication" at Marathon Literary Review.  I also had a critical article on David Mitchell accepted by the Journal for Language, Literature, and Culture.  I argue that Mitchell uses metafiction unlike writers from the 1960s and 1970s to undercut the power of story, but to reinforce it.  It will come out in 2016.

2014

One of my poems, "Let He Who Is Without" (which will be published in Liturgical Calendar: Poems) is online at Vending Machine Press.  There's even an audio component, so you can hear me reading the poem.  Also, "Reply Hazy, Try Again," has been published in Tincture, a relatively new journal out of Australia.  They pay their writers, so they're really worth your support.

Three of my poems have been published at Brickplight, while four poems are online (with audio) at Technoculture.

My manuscript, Liturgical Calendar: Poems, has been accepted for publication by Wipf and Stock Publishers.  It should be released sometime later this year.

I will be reading at the Lee University Writer's Festival on January 30 at 7 p.m., along will William Woolfitt.  We'll be reading in the Edna Minor Conn Auditorium in the Vest Building.

I'll also be reading at Union University in Jackson, TN, on March 11.  The reading is at 1:00 in Harvey Auditorium in the Barefoot Student Union Building.  Details can be found here.

Wipf and Stock Publishers have accepted my third full-length collection of poetry and will publish it later this year.

2013
My book-length manuscript A Lexicon of Lost Words has won the Violet Reed Haas Prize for Poetry from Snake Nation Press and will be published in the coming months.

Rachel L. Peters reviewed Holy Days: Poems for Editions Bibliotekos (my review is on page 9).

2012
Clint Cooper wrote a great article summarizing my faith journey (the subject of Another Way) for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

This article from the Cleveland Daily Banner talks about my visit to Chilhowee Middle School.

Burgess Needle reviewed Holy Days: Poems for FutureCycle.

2010 and before
Here's an interview with Poets' Quarterly from early 2010.

Martin Abramson reviewed Exit Lines here.

Wendy Galgan reviewed Abecedarium for Editions Bibliotekos.

David Chorlton also reviewed Abecedarium (FutureCycle Poetry).

ETSU Today has an article about my receiving the Excellence in Scholarship award on page 13.  I received my Master's in English from them in 1994.

ETSU Today has a brief write up about me and the new book on page 16.
